Growing from the December 2025 round of Carols till Closing in ten of St Albans' pubs, a few eager singers decided to sound out the possibilities of establishing a brand new Community Choir based at St Saviour's. It didn't take long to find other like-minded people, so in partnership with Fr Richard and St Saviour's Church we held a free introductory evening in January 2026. Fr Richard was joined by Afi Attah and Louise Chambers, to explore possible ways forward - and of course to sing! After some introductions, questions and warm-up exercises we made a beautiful noise - as you can see in the video below!

So moving forward....
The new full 6-week term begins Monday 23rd Feb through till Monday 30th March.
From the new term the pay as you go is £12.00, but paying for the whole term in advance is only £60.00. As explained at the taster evening there is a concessionary rate if this is beyond anyone's current means, because we really do want EVERYONE to be involved! (so just have a quiet word with Afi or Lou)....
We plan to have an online payment option set up soon, along with a webpage accessed here where teaching tracks etc can be downloaded as well. If you haven't yet registered, then its not too late. Just use the link button at the top of the page, or just come along on a Monday evening. At some point in the term the rehearsal will move into church to enjoy the awesome acoustic - but in the meantime the choir will gather in the hall to enjoy the heat!

Afi Attah and Louise Chambers
are deeply rooted in the world of music, starting out as members of the renowned London Community Gospel Choir. Travelling the world, they've sung powerful gospel , but also provided vocal support to superstars such as The Killers, Tom Grennan, The Gorillas Take That, Mariah Carey and others.

But their passion for singing goes beyond the spotlight, believing that music is for everyone who has a love for it, not just the professionals! It’s all about the joy of singing and sharing that passion with others - choir members and audiences alike. Afi already leads a vibrant community choir in St Albans, and they also teach in schools, and run vocal workshops.
They're really excited at the possibility of a new community choir based at St Saviour's, and look forward to welcoming anyone who wants to sing - whether it’s pop, gospel, or rock - because the heart of music is simply loving it!
